To: The residents and property owners of Buchanan Charter Township, Berrien County Michigan and any other interested parties.
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE the Planning Commission of Buchanan Charter Township, Berrien County Michigan will hold a Public Hearing on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, commencing at 6:00 p.m., at the Buchanan Charter Township Hall, 15235 Main St, Buchanan, MI 49107.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE the Planning Commission is considering the following amendments to Buchanan Charter Township Zoning Ordinance:
CHAPTER 2, ZONING DEFINITIONS, SECTION 2.02 DEFINITIONS E. is amended to read:
ESSENTIAL SERVICES
The erection, construction, alteration or maintenance by public or quasi-public utilities or municipal departments or Township-certified cable television companies of underground, surface or overhead gas, steam, electrical, fuel or water systems for the purposes of transmission, distribution, collection, communication, supply, or disposal; including towers, poles, wires, mains, drains, sewers, pipes, conduits, cables, fire alarm and police call boxes, traffic signals, hydrants and similar equipment, which are necessary for the furnishing of adequate service by such utilities or municipal departments for the general health, safety, and welfare of the public. Essential services shall not include storage yards, sales or business offices, or commercial buildings or activities.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that written comments will be taken from any interested persons concerning the foregoing proposed amendment, at the Buchanan Charter Township Hall, at the address set forth above, at any time during regular business hours up to 4:00 o’clock p.m. on the date of said hearing and will further be received by the Planning Commission at the time of said hearing.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that all persons interested in the foregoing are invited to be present at the aforesaid Public Hearing time and place to participate in the discussion. More information can be obtained by calling Buchanan Charter Township at 269-591-7982. Individuals with disabilities requiring auxiliary aids or services, and wish to attend the hearing, should contact the office of the Township Clerk, by writing or calling the Clerk, at least five (5) days prior to the hearing to ensure needed accommodations.
