BUCHANAN TOWNSHIP – NOTICE OF CLOSE OF REGISTRATION FOR PRIMARY ELECTION

NOTICE OF LAST DAY OF REGISTRATION
FOR THE PRIMARY ELECTION TO BE HELD ON
TUESDAY, AUGUST 7, 2018
To the qualified electors of Buchanan Township, County of Berrien, State of Michigan.
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that an election will be held in Buchanan Township on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. The last day to register for the election is Monday, July 9, 2018 by 5:00 pm. Persons residing in Buchanan Township registering after the deadline will not be eligible to vote at the election.
Persons planning to register may do so in person at the Buchanan Township Clerk’s office, the Berrien County Clerk’s office, or the Secretary of State drivers license bureau during regular business hours. Registration may also be made at the specified agency for clients receiving services through the Human Services Department, the Department of Community Health, Michigan Works and some offices of the Commission for the Blind and at the military recruitment offices for persons enlisting in the armed forces. Registration by mail may be used by obtaining and completing a Mail Voter Registration Application at www.mi.gov/vote and forwarding to the election official as directed on the application by the close of registration deadline. Lastly, those already registered may update their voter registration at www.expressSOS.com.
Regular business hours for Buchanan Township Hall, located at 15235 Main Street, Buchanan, MI 49107, are Monday – Friday between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. The Clerk’s office is open Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
PERSONS ENTITLED to be registered voters in Buchanan Township must possess the following qualifications on or before the date of the election: (1) a citizen of the United State; (2) not less than 18 years of age; (3) a resident of the State of Michigan and Buchanan Township for not less than 30 days prior to the election (MCL 168.492). In addition, qualified electors must be registered to vote not less than 30 days prior to the election (MCL 168.497).

RIVER VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT MILLAGE RENEWAL PROPOSAL TO PROVIDE FUNDS FOR OPERATING PURPOSES THE ESTIMATE OF THE REVENUE THE SCHOOL DISTRICT WILL COLLECT IS APPROXIMATELY $7,892,660.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that Buchanan Township will be voting on the following millage proposal as presented and listed below:
BUCHANAN TOWNSHIP FIRE DEPARTMENT MILLAGE RENEWAL PROPOSAL TO PROVIDE FUNDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF OPERATING, EQUIPPING, CONSTRUCTING AND PURCHASING FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WITH AN ESTIMATE OF THE REVENUE TO BE COLLECTED IN THE FIRST YEAR IS APPROPXIMATELY $168,000.
