Notice of Adoption Zoning Ordinance Amendment

Notice is hereby given that the Galien Township Board adopted an amendment to the Galien Township Zoning Ordinance at their regular meeting held on February 21, 2018. The zoning amendment includes the following language which is to be inserted as item 24 under SECTION 2.4B – USES BY SPECIAL PERMIT AS PROVIDED FOR BY SECTION 3.13:
“24. Marihuana Facility subject to the requirements of Section 2.7.”
The Ordinance amendment adopted by the Township Board also includes Section 2.7 “MARIHUANA FACILITIES BY SPECIAL PERMIT AS PROVIDED FOR BY SECTION 3.13”. Section 2.7A defines the purpose of Section 2.7; Section 2.7B provides definitions for Section 2.7; Section 2.7C provides requirements that apply to ALL Licensing Facilities in the Township; and 2.7D provides for compliance, licensing, and inspections of Marihuana Facilities. Sections 2.7E, 2.7F, and 2.7G detail the respective requirements for operations, signage, and the premises to be used for Marihuana Facilities. Section 2.7H details requirements specific to Grower Facilities; Section 2.7I details requirements specific to Safety Compliance Facilities; Section 2.7J details requirements specific to Processor Facilities; and finally, Section 2.7K details requirements specific to Secure Transporters.

The complete amendment may also be viewed or downloaded from the Township website at www.galientownship.org. The Zoning Ordinance Amendment will be effective as provided in the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act, Public Act 110 of 2006, as amended, seven (7) days after publication, on March 9, 2018.
