RESOLUTION CONCERNING RETURN OF DELINQUENT TAXES
At a regular meeting of the Village Council of the Village of Galien, Michigan, held at the
Galien Village Hall , on the 13th day of May, 2019 , the following resolution was offered by
Council member C. Marsh, and supported by Council member J. Rochman.
WHEREAS, MCL 69.18(2) provides that taxes collected by the Village shall be returned delinquent to the County Treasurer on September 16, unless the governing body of the Village by Resolution adopted on or before June 1 of each year determines that the Village taxes shall be returned to County Treasurer on the same date that County taxes are returned delinquent for
collection;
WHEREAS, the Village has returned delinquent taxes to the County Treasurer on September
16 of each year; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed in the best interests if the Village and its residents that the Village
taxes shall be returned to the County Treasurer on the same date that County taxes are returned
delinquent for collection;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Galien Village Council determines that
the Village taxes shall be returned to the County Treasurer on the same date that County taxes
are returned delinquent for collection.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution shall be forwarded to the County
Treasurer on or before July 1, 2019 and a like Resolution shall be forwarded to the County
Treasurer before July 1 of each year such Resolution is adopted.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Village tax bill for each year or a separate enclosure
with the tax bill shall specify where such delinquent taxes are to be paid.
On roll call, following discussion, the vote on the foregoing resolution was as follows:
Ayes: Foster, Marsh, Darymple, Merrill , Swank, Rochman, Chappell
Nays: None
Abstain: None
Absent: None
Whereupon the Village President declared the Resolution adopted.

Council at a Regular Meeting held on May 13,2019, at which meeting a quorum was present and
remained throughout; (2) the meeting was conducted, and public notice thereof was given,
pursuant to and in full compliance with the Open Meetings Act (Act No. 267, Public Acts of
Michigan, 1976, as amended) and (3) minutes of such meeting were kept and will be or have
been made available as thereby required.
